The PGS M/V Ramform Sterling will survey the mid Cretaceous Diomedia fan complex within the southern area licences, covering a minimum area of 4.000 square kilometers, a task likely to take approximately the four months of the austral summer, said the company in a Wednesday release. The original plan was that the Diomedia survey would be acquired later in 2013. However, due to the late completion of the Scotia well, there has been insufficient time to allow the Scotia results to influence the exact location and design of the 3D survey. Read More

The committed work program for the Parta Permit requires the acquisition of 2D and 3D seismic and the drilling of two exploration wells. ADX holds 50% of the license and is the operator. A contract for acquisition and processing of 2D and 3D seismic has already been signed between ADX and the Romanian company S.C. PROSPECTIUNI SA.  Geophysical operations will commence within a fortnight. Depending on weather all seismic acquisition could be completed by Q2 2013 which would allow the first exploration well to be drilled in late Q3 2013 the earliest. Read More
Invensys Operations Management implemented an operator-training simulator for the U.S. Department of Energy using SimSci-Esscor EYESIM virtual reality training solution. Designed for use within integrated gasification combined cycle power plants with carbon capture, and implemented at the National Energy Technology Laboratory’s Advanced Virtual Energy Simulation Training and Research Center in Morgantown, W.Va., the EYESIM solution uses 3-D virtual reality simulation to help train power plant control room and field operators. Wearing a stereoscopic headset, IGCC field operators are immersed in a virtual environment with the ability to move throughout the plant, coordinating their activities with control room operators and interacting as if they were in the actual facility. (VT Systems), today announced that AeroSimulators has chosen VT MÄK’s VR-Vantage and VR-Forces Scenario Generation Tool to enhance its Gimbal Imaging Systems Trainer (GIST) product line. AeroSimulators decided to use VT MÄK’s product capabilities to provide their customers with the immediate ability to create and modify complex scenarios, as well as to increase the fidelity of the GIST sensor image generation.

The Space Tracking and Surveillance System (STSS) demonstration satellites, built by a Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC) and Raytheon team for the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA), collected data during an Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense test June 26 that will be used to create a concept of operations for future space-borne, operational missile defense sensors.

A new Offshore Simulator Center (OSC) is being finalized  in Aalesund, Norway to provide advanced training in offshore ship operations. The new facilities are located in a 'Norwegian Competence Center building' next to the Aalesund University College. The building contains several futuristic constructions, such as a 13.5m diameter aluminium dome for the offshore operations simulators, and two 4m diameter spherical domes for crane simulation. Neuron, the European Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle demonstrator, has completed its first flight in French Istres achieving a major milestone in the Neuron programme, where defence and security company Saab has played a critical role in the design, development and production. Now more flight testing will follow. The study is the largest 3D seismic study in the Black Sea and covers approximately 6,000 square kilometers in the deep-water area of the Neptun block in the Romanian sector of the Black Sea, OMV Petrom, the operator of the seismic program, said. -ExxonMobil and OMV Petrom will use data collected from this seismic program and an earlier seismic program in 2009 and 2010 to further assess the commercial and technical feasibility of the Domino gas discovery announced earlier this year. Read More

Intermap announced that the Company was awarded a US $2.3 million 3D Business Intelligence (3DBI) solutions contract. This contract is the initial phase of a program where Intermap will design, build and deliver 3DBI solutions for an Asia based client. The solution will enable a national spatial information database designed to be delivered via the cloud or on an appliance in the client's data center.
